The first Representative Assembly of the Colony of Newfoundland was elected in 1833 and named the House of Assembly. This name continued to be used for the elected Chamber when the Colony was granted Responsible Government in 1855. In February, 1934 the Constitution of the Dominion of Newfoundland was suspended. At the time of suspension there were two Houses of Parliament namely : the Legislative Counsel, the Upper House and the House of Assembly, the Lower elected House. When Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949, the Terms of Union as set forth in the British North American Act of 1949(now cited the Newfoundland Act) provided that the Constitution of the Legislature of Newfoundland as it existed immediately prior to February of 1934 would continue as the Constitution and the Legislature of the Province from the date of union. Although the Legislative Counsel was not continued at the time of Confederation, the Lower House or the House of Assembly became the elected Parliament of the Province and the name House Assembly continued to be used after 1949 in the same manner as it was originally used in 1833. The Ausroc 3(A3) launch vehicle has a liquid fuelled motor that burns JA-1 kerosene with liquid oxygen, and uses regenerative cooling. The motor produces 35 kN at sea level and has a burn time of 80 seconds. The motor is gimballed to facilitate pitch and yaw control. The wall of the combustion chamber, throat and expansion nozzle consists of 102 stainless steel tubes stacked side by side running parallel to the motor axis. The tubes will be brazed together and the assembly wrapped in a carbon fibre composite. The composite wrapping is used to relieve to tubes of the hoop stress generated by the combustion pressure(2 MPa), whilst the tubes contain the combustion heat(3500 K). The top end of the motor has a kerosene inlet manifolt, oxygen dome and injector block. The kerosene inlet manifold delivers kerosene to every second motor tube, where it travels down to the arse end of the motor. Here it enters the lower kerosene manifold which is a simple plenum ring. This allows the kerosene to flow into the other alternate tubes which deliver it back up to the inlet manifold. Air release chambers are installed ahead of any metering equipment to ensure accurate measurement of fuel flow. They may be installed in either the pumphouse or on the dispensing platform. They operate on the reduced flow velocity principle which separates and eliminates air from the fuel. As the fuel enters the air release chamber(the diameter of which is much greater than the diameter of the inlet to the air release body), the velocity of the flow is greatly reduced allowing an interval of time for the air to separate from the fuel. The air, being lighter than the liquid, rises to the top of the chamber, where it remains until a sufficient quantity has accumulated to lower the liquid level, causing the float to drop, which in turn opens the vent valve and allows the accumulated air to escape.
