Magelhaens is a lunar crater that lies along the southwestern edge of the Mare Fecunditatis, in the eastern part of the Moon's near side. It lies to the south-southwest of Goclenius crater, about midway between Gutenberg crater to the northwest and Colombo crater to the southeast. This crater has a somewhat slender and uneven outer rim that is only roughly circular. The somewhat smaller satellite crater ’Magelhaens A’ is attached to the southeastern rim. Within the inner walls of Magelhaens, the interior floor has been resurfaced by basaltic-lava, matching the same dark appearance as the lunar mare to the northeast. Maskeleyne is a solitary lunar crater that lies in the southeast part of the Mare Tranquillitatis. The outer rim has a somewhat polygonal shape, although it is generally circular. Charles Messier's life work has been honored by the international astronomy community(represented by the IAU in this case) by naming a quite conspicuous Moon crater after the astronomer. This unique crater, situated in Mare Fecunditatis at 47. 6 deg eastern selenographic [as it is called on the Moon, or lunar] longitude and 1. 9 deg southern selenographic latitude has a form deviating remarkably from the usual circular one, is the source of two bright and conspicuous rays, and has a close neighbor called Messier A(which was formerly named "Pickering, "but now another crater bears that name).  3, fiche 4, Anglais, - crater%20Messier

Colombo is a lunar impact crater that lies on the strip of rough continental terrain between Mare Fecunditatis to the east and Mare Nectaris in the west. It is located to the south of Goclenius crater, and northwest of Cook crater. The rim of Colombo is circular, although slightly indented along the northwest where ’Colombo A’ intrudes slightly into the interior. The inner wall is asymmetrical, being much more narrow to the north and northwest and wider to the southeast. The rim is somewhat eroded, and several tiny craterlets lie along the inner wall to the southeast. Aristarchus is a prominent lunar impact crater that lies in the northwest part of the Moon's near side. It is considered the brightest of the large formations on the lunar surface, with an albedo nearly double that of most lunar features. The feature is bright enough to be visible to the naked eye, and is dazzling in a large telescope.
