This project was initiated as part of Canada's contribution to the International Hydrological Decade(1965 to 1974). Although publication of this map series was suspended in the mid-seventies and gaps remain to be filled for some coverage areas, what has been created for this series thus far should prove useful in some aspects of glacier research. These map plates display glaciers and glacier regions. Glaciers are denoted by a numbering system, which is keyed to Canadian glacier inventory data. Ce projet a été lancé à titre de contribution du Canada à la Décennie hydrologique internationale (1965 à 1974). Bien que la publication de cette série ait été interrompue au milieu des années 70 et que des régions restent à couvrir, ce qui existe déjà devrait être utile à certains aspects de la recherche sur les glaciers. Ces planches illustrent les glaciers et les régions des glaciers. Les glaciers sont désignés au moyen d'un système de numérotation qui renvoie à l'Inventaire canadien des glaciers. Alarm signals from the protected areas are received at the alarm station by a monitoring system that displays the information in a manner that permits alarm sources to be quickly identified. Alarms can be displayed separately on individual display panels, or they can be monitored collectively by a common receiver and displayed individually by numeric displays.
