The Framework for the Management of Information(FMI) is a key initiative aimed at modernizing and mapping the strategic direction and landscape for the management of information in the Government of Canada. The FMI will assist government departments and agencies by providing authoritative, comprehensive and integrated guidance on how to best manage information to support service delivery, enhance Citizen access, improve results, fulfill government information legal and policy obligations, and strengthen accountability. Le Cadre de la gestion de l'information (CGI) est une initiative clé visant à moderniser et à dresser l'orientation et le portrait stratégiques de la gestion de l'information (GI) au Gouvernement du Canada. Le CGI aidera les ministères et les organismes en leur fournissant des conseils complets, intégrés et faisant autorité sur la meilleure façon de gérer l'information en vue d'appuyer la prestation des services, de fournir un meilleur accès aux citoyens, d'améliorer les résultats, de leur permettre de satisfaire aux obligations en matière d'information gouvernementale découlant des lois et des politiques et de renforcer la reddition de comptes. The Fire Monitoring, Mapping and Modeling System(Fire M3) is an initiative of the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing and the Canadian Forest Service. Le Système de surveillance, cartographie et modélisation des incendies de forêts (Fire M3) est un projet conjoint du Centre canadien de télédétection et du Service canadien des forêts. Canadian federal and provincial government organizations have long been engaged in building and maintaining extensive collections of digital topographic mapping datasets, road network files and property mapping databases in support of their own respective mandates and obligations. Since 1996, a collection of these organizations has been instrumental in establishing and developing the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure(CGDI) Initiative.
