Les eaux véhiculées dans les réseaux peuvent présenter des caractéristiques physico-chimiques très différentes [...] Nous pouvons considérer deux catégories selon la nature des canalisations [...] - les eaux corrosives pouvant attaquer le métal non revêtu [...] À l'intérieur de ces eaux corrosives, nous pouvons distinguer les eaux qui sont incrustantes ou agressives. Les eaux incrustantes sont des eaux très minéralisées qui laissent un dépôt de calcium et de carbonate provoquant l'entartrage des conduites. Les eaux agressives sont peu minéralisées; elles sont plus corrosives que les eaux incrustantes car elles ne favorisent pas la formation de dépôt protecteur. Une eau corrosive est caractérisée par la production de l'hydroxyde ferreux, puis ferrique. Cela entraîne la formation de nodules, voire de tubercules pouvant à terme diminuer la section. Ce phénomène se rencontre dans les anciennes conduites sans cimentation intérieure [...] - les eaux agressives envers les matériaux à base de ciment. Une eau agressive se définit comme ayant les propriétés d'attaquer les matériaux renfermant du calcium. Selon la minéralisation, le pH et la température de l'eau véhiculée, trois cas peuvent se présenter : une eau à l'équilibre calco-carbonique n'entraîne à une température donnée, ni attaque, ni précipitation de carbonate de calcium; une eau incrustante (ou entartrante) a tendance à déposer des sels de calcium (carbonate) sur la paroi intérieure des canalisations; une eau agressive peut attaquer certains éléments constitutifs du mortier de ciment comportant du calcium (silicates ou silico-aluminates de calcium).  3, fiche 5, Français, - eau%20corrosive
