BREAK OVER. This occurs during that part of the stride when the limb is beginning to move forward and the anterior portion of the hoof leaves the ground. Break over point is that place on the ground surface of the dorsal wall and sole around which the limb rotates as the hoof leaves the ground. An unbalanced hoof, either because of incorrect trimming/shoeing, or hoof or limb pathologies, will not have the correct break over which leads to a host of problems, both actual and potential. During a period, the officials will designate specific 60-second spans(jams) during which designated skaters(jammers) from each team break away from the pack, circle the track, and attempt to lap opposing skaters to score points. A team is awarded one point for each opposing skater passed by a jammer. Players are permitted to assist their own jammers around the pack by pulling them or blocking opposing skaters out of the way and to prevent the opposing jammers from passing by blocking, jostling, or shoving.
