Penetration diving. In technical penetration diving, there are broadly two approaches. The conventional approach involves the use of continuous guidelines laid from a wreck reel, tied just outside the entrance point, just inside the entrance point, and at regular intervals inside(to mitigate the risk of a cut line, or a "line trap"... An alternative approach, popularised by deep wreck divers in the American Northeast, is referred to as "progressive penetration. "Progressive penetration eschews the use of reels, but the diver makes several successive penetrations, each successively deeper than the last, memorising the layout for both the inward and outward journeys.

During latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction, a tunnel is created beneath the skin from the back muscle to the breast area. Through this tunnel the surgeon transfers the flap; the few blood vessels that must be cut during the procedure are then reconnected with microsurgery. First, the beets are cleaned in a beet washer. Then, a machine called a slicer is used to cut the beets into long strips that look like shoestring potatoes or noodles. The beet noodles are sent through a machine called a diffuser or extractor. Hot water is mixed with the beets to dissolve and remove the sugar from the beet noodles. The water and sugar juice are saved, and this solution is called "raw juice. "... The raw juice is treated with lime and carbon dioxide gas to clean the mixture again. It is sent through a big, round filter to clean it and remove other non-sugars. The raw juice goes into a series of big tanks called evaporators where some of the water is boiled off. At this point, the mixture contains more sugar than water. It is a thick-like syrup and is again filtered to make sure it is very clean.

Although one of the primary aims in durum wheat milling is to produce a speck-free product, bran specks in the final product are unavoidable. If wheat is improperly cleaned, foreign material such as earth pellets or insect fragments may also appear as black specks; kernels damaged by severe smudge, mildew, black point or ergot will also cause speckiness. Since a specky product is undesirable, one test for checking the efficiency of milling is the determination of number of specks per unit area of semolina. The definition of "speck" is not clear cut and differentiation must be made between bran specks and other dark or black specks. Insufficient cleaning of wheat, presence of damaged kernels in low grade wheats, and inefficient purification contribute to speckiness. Normally, the number of specks is reported as specks per 100 square centimetres.

Mortise(mortice)(...) to cut a hole in two layers of material and replace the undesired cutout piece with the desired cutout piece. The piece to be replaced may consist of one character, a line, a solid block of text, or a complete illustration.(...) A sharp knife is used to cut out both layers of paper.(...) The [desired cutout piece] is picked up with the point of the knife and placed in the cutout space.
