A switch point derail …, sometimes referred to as a split switch derail, is a track switch installed at the derail location. The switch point derail can be operated as a power derail or as a conventional hand-operated derail. In both cases, the switch is activated from outside the track just as a regular track switch would be. However, there is no track extending from the diverging route. When the switch point derail is in the derailing position, rail cars are diverted directly to the roadbed.

However, once established, the use of the system was expanded to other accessories, such as tactical lights, laser aiming modules, night vision devices, reflex sights, foregrips, bipods and bayonets. While the SFCS has a number of features and capabilities designed to vastly improve target identification and hand-off among a number of operators, its core is a muzzle velocity sensor. The system sits on the Picatinny rail of any weapon and draws on a number of acoustic sensors to characterize how the weapon is performing between the time the primer of a round is struck and the bullet leaves the barrel.... In establishing a feasible train operation on a train run, the "spotting capacity" on each primary elevator at each loading point being assigned rail cars must be considered. Spotting capacity is the number of empty cars that can be placed for loading at an elevator without either the empty or subsequently loaded cars interfering with the loading operation at an adjacent facility. Allocating shipping orders in excess of spotting capacity results in a shortfall in a loading plan and a temporary under-supply of grain at an export point.

In establishing a feasible train operation on a train run, the "spotting capacity" on each primary elevator at each loading point being assigned rail cars must be considered. Spotting capacity is the number of empty cars that can be placed for loading at an elevator without either the empty or subsequently loaded cars interfering with the loading operation at an adjacent facility. Allocating shipping orders in excess of spotting capacity results in a shortfall in a loading plan and a temporary under-supply of grain at an export point.
