The Conserver Society of Hamilton & District Inc. started in 1969 as a group called CHOP(Clear Hamilton of Pollution). In 1984 it incorporated as Conserver Society.... The Society now has charitable status. The [Conserver Society] helped initiate composting programs, bicycle paths, education on and reduction of pesticide use. The Low Emission Zone(LEZ) was introduced in 2008 to encourage the most polluting heavy diesel vehicles driving in the Capital to become cleaner. The LEZ covers most of Greater London.
