Polyurethane leather is... in trend as a substitute for natural leather. It is used primarily as an upper material for shoes, bags and luggage, for automotive interiors and as a coating for ball surfaces, for example. The systems are suitable for use as a finish, topcoat, intermediate coat and an adhesion coat on textile substrates. The success of polyurethane leather is due in part to its economical production, but above all to its property profile which is nearly the equal of, and in some aspects superior to, that of natural leather.

With properties similar to genuine leathers, PU synthetic leather has been widely used in the manufacturing of shoes, handbags, furniture, accessories, and sports equipment. Superior durability, good hand, and breathability have truly made PU synthetic leather a perfect substitute for genuine leather. San Fang produces both woven and non-woven substrate PU coated leathers. The outstanding finishing techniques have successfully earned global recognition for its products.

These... fabrics are used as an outer shell for a variety of apparel... They consist of a substrate, a knitted fabric, that has been coated using a transfer coating process. With transfer coating, a coating of polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride is applied in layers to a paper carrier until the required coating thickness is achieved. At this stage, the product appears as rolls of paper coated with a waterproof membrane. In the second stage, a knitted base fabric and the coated paper are then run through the transfer coating process. The coating layer is then transferred from the paper carrier to the knitted base fabric.

Once a fabric is rendered impermeable as, for example, by impregnation and/or coating with vinyl, neoprene, elastomers, polyurethane, and so forth, an entirely new set of construction uses of fabrics arises. The fabric, being nonporous, can now be lifted by air to form an air-supported structure capable of wide variations of size and shape. it can also be water filled, taking the shape of the fabric under hydrostatic pressure to form various enclosures or barriers such as inflatable flood gates in tidal zones. Lastly, if the coating has structural stiffness, it, in itself, becomes a structural element. Its use is now unlimited for enclosures, roofs, partitions, and many other related uses.
