When the Station is completed a total of eight flexible, deployable solar array wings will generate the reliable, continuous power for the on-orbit operation of the ISS [International Space Station] systems... Each of the eight wings consists of a mast assembly and two solar array blankets. Each blanket has 84 panels, of which 82 are populated with solar cells. Each panel contains 200 solar cells. The eight photovoltaic arrays thus accommodate a total of 262, 400 solar cells. When fully deployed in space, the active area of the eight wings, each 107 by 38-feet, will encompass an area of 32, 528-sq. ft., and will provide power to the ISS for 15 years.

The Mixedwood Plains ecozone consists of the St. Lawrence River valley of Quebec and Ontario and the inter-Great Lakes region of southern Ontario. The ecozone is the most populated in Canada and the most intensely developed.... The climate consists of warm summers and cool winters. Once heavily forested, the Mixedwood Plains ecozone contains the greatest variety of tree species in Canada, though only about 10% of the forests, mostly a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees, remains. Though relatively small in land area, the ecozone is very important agriculturally. The fertile soils, warm growing season, abundant rainfall and gentle topography of rolling hills and level plains result in a very productive and varied agriculture. The ecozone contains the most productive soils in Canada. Dairy, beef, poultry and eggs, and grains and oilseeds are important agricultural commodities. Orchards, fruit and vegetable production and vineyards can also be found throughout the ecozone.

En raison de sa situation géographique, de ses cours d'eau, de son relief peu accentué, de ses sols fertiles, de sa chaude saison de végétation et de ses précipitations abondantes, l'écozone est devenue une des régions les plus densément peuplées et les plus intensément exploitées du Canada. [...] Environ 85 % de ces personnes vivent dans les agglomérations urbaines de l'axe Québec-Windsor. Autrefois, lorsque l'écozone était fortement boisée, elle présentait une plus grande diversité d'arbres et de plantes que toute autre région du Canada. Un très fort pourcentage des espèces en péril au Canada s'y trouvent. La plus grande partie de la forêt de feuillus a été abattue et remplacée par des fermes, des vergers, des routes et des villes. Dans certains secteurs de l'extrême sud-ouest de l'Ontario, la forêt occupe aujourd'hui moins de 3 % du territoire. Deux siècles de colonisation et de développement ont ainsi amené l'émergence d'un paysage fragmenté caractéristique, constitué d'une mosaïque de terres en culture, de secteurs urbanisés et de lambeaux de végétation naturelle.
