In 2003, $32M were dedicated over five years toward the development and implementation of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Targeted Immunization Strategy(FNIHB-TIS) to increase immunization coverage rates and ensure access to newly recommended vaccines. The goal of the program is to provide a strategy that integrates with the Canadian national immunization strategy, resulting in the reduced incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases and their sequelae by March 2008. En 2003, 32 millions de dollars ont été affectés sur une période de cinq ans à l'élaboration et à la mise en œuvre de la Stratégie d'immunisation ciblée (SIC) de la Direction générale de la santé des Premières nations et des Inuits pour accroître la couverture vaccinale et assurer l'accès aux nouveaux vaccins recommandés. L'objet du programme est d'offrir une stratégie qui s'harmonise avec la stratégie nationale d'immunisation pour réduire l'incidence des maladies évitables par la vaccination et leurs séquelles d'ici mars 2008.
