The result of hitting the tennis ball with a tennis racquet; sometimes refers to the actual placement of the ball or manner in which it is struck.

A shot is the combination of a stroke and the situation in which it is used.

OBS

"Long" is an informal expression used to indicate that a shot went out past the baseline. Important nuance: a "stroke" implies early preparation and a complete follow through. If one were to envision a stroke, one would see a series of sequences, ending with a "shot", i.e. the result of all of the above. Consequently, a "shot" is the result of the "stroke". "Shot" implies a quick, sharp movement because one is focusing on the end result, not the series of sequences leading up to it. A "blow" is rather an imprecise, general term similar in meaning to "shot". Although many would like to maintain these nuances in English, "shot" and "stroke" are often used synonymously. "Blow" is used only rarely. Note, however that although there are two possible equivalents ("coup" and "frappe") in French, neither are semantically identical to the English offerings. The Spanish term "pegada" works well as an equivalent for "shot", although technically the term more specifically refers to the actual hitting action caused by the racket coming in contact with the ball, and not to the end result [cause vs effect].

This is the way you define the program run by specifying which accounts should be cleared. You can specify individual accounts or intervals of account numbers, and you can restrict the selection of open items by fiscal year. Maintaining the payment parameters is part of the first step in the SPS payment run, along with : creating the payment proposal, editing the completed proposal and scheduling the run of the payment program. If you do not enter any parameters the entire dataset is selected. To avoid having to enter the parameters repeatedly for every program run, you can store your specifications in variants. A variant consists of a complete group of clearing parameters you save and call up together.

Sideskipping is a series of quick side steps with one’s shoulders parallel to the net. Such a movement is required to bring a player close enough to the ball so that an effective stroke can be made.

The term "shuffle step" is almost always used in the plural, since more than one is generally required to move from one point to another. The term "side step", in the singular, is but a single segment in the process of sideskipping. This latter term more often than not denotes an action rather than the result thereof. Other related terms: shuffling, cross-over step, adjustment step, turning step.

Les pas chassés permettent de faire face au filet tout en se déplaçant ainsi que d'éviter les contre-pieds. Il est en effet, plus facile de repartir vers l'endroit d'où l'on vient, lorsqu'on court vers l'avant. Les pas chassés sont le plus souvent utilisés pour parcourir de courtes distances. Si la balle est très loin, on peut revenir en pas courus en début de replacement, puis se remettre face au filet en pas chassés en fin de replacement. Pour les longs déplacements, en avant et en diagonale, on utilise le plus souvent des pas courus.

The National Aboriginal Forestry Training and Review Committee was established in 1993 to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the forestry industry. As a first step, the committee looked at the level of participation in the industry. At present, the committee is working with specific educational institutions to encourage Aboriginal people to take training programs in the forestry industry. It is also working with the institutions to modify existing programs to include an Aboriginal component. The third phase of this agreement began in November 1995 and will run to March 31, 1997.
