The UVSOR storage ring is a synchrotron radiation light source for studies of molecular science and its related fields. The radio frequency of the ring is 90 MHz [megahertz] and its harmonic number is 16. The pulsed light is supplied with a period of 11 ns, when all buckets of the ring are filled. The storage ring can be operated in the single bunch mode when a longer pulse period is required. In this mode, the period of the pulsed light is 180 ns [nanoseconds], which is the revolution period of the beam in the ring. La diffusion nucléaire résonnante est une spectroscopie dans le domaine temporel, contrairement à la SM [spectrométrie Mössbauer], qui est résolue en énergie. Les échelles de temps concernées sont de l’ordre du temps de vie des niveaux Mössbauer (de la nanoseconde à la microseconde), qui sont bien adaptées à la structure temporelle des sources RS [rayonnement synchrotron]. Des «modes de temps» typiques à l’ESRF [Installation européenne de rayonnement synchrotron] sont le mode «simple paquet» et le mode «16 paquets». Dans le mode «simple paquet», l’anneau de stockage est rempli avec un seul «seau» d’électrons, appelé le paquet, avec un courant d’électrons de 20 Ma [milliampères] (4 x 10¹¹ électrons) et un temps de vie d’environ 6 h. Une fois issue de l’anneau, par une fenêtre dans l’axe de la section droite pour un élément d’insertion ou sur la tangente à la trajectoire pour un aimant de courbure, la nappe de rayonnement circule dans un tube (ou ligne de lumière) et est en général divisée de façon à alimenter simultanément plusieurs expériences. Les anciens anneaux ne comportaient que quelques lignes de lumière, ceux de la troisième génération en comptent plusieurs dizaines régulièrement réparties autour de l’anneau. Advanced Gradient Heating Facility(AGHF)... The AGHF supports the production of advanced semiconductor materials and alloys using the directional solidification process, which depends on establishing a hot side and a cold side in the sample(a temperature gradient). It provides an extremely stable temperature environment of up to 1, 400°C, high-temperature gradients of up to 100°C/cm in the solidification zone, slow movement of the gradient across a sample to provide slow growth rates, efficient cooling through the use of a liquid metal cooling ring attached to the sample container, and Peltier pulse marking capability. The Very High Resolution Spectrometer. The 6. 65 m off-plane Eagle spectrometer connected to the Synchrotron Ultraviolet Radiation Facility(SURF II) electron storage ring at the National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) is one of the two very high resolution spectrometers(VHRS) in the world that combine a synchrotron radiation light source with photoelectric detection of vacuum ultraviolet spectra. Spectra are obtained over a usable range from approximately 20 nm to 200 nm by scanning the exit slit of the spectrometer at wavelength intervals as small as 0. 1 pm in first order. The beamline leading to the entrance slit of the VHRS includes three cylindrical uncoated glass mirrors with incident angles of 80, 70, and 80 degrees from the normal to provide a converging beam to match the f/number of the instrument which is about f/50.
