As a result, the corona becomes visible as a halo of glowing plasma encircling the Moon.

When electromagnetic radiation in the ultraviolet and visible regions passes through a compound containing multiple bonds, a portion of the radiation is usually absorbed by the compound. Just how much of the radiation is absorbed depends on the wavelength of the radiation and the structure of the compound. The absorption of radiation is caused by the substraction of energy from the radiation beam when electrons in orbitals of lower energy are excited into orbitals of higher energy.... The heme enzymes catalase and peroxidase have distinctive absorption spectra due to their heme prosthetic groups.

Cependant, la plupart des satellites sont équipés de capteurs qui sont également sensible à des types de lumière invisibles pour l'homme (comme par exemple la lumière infrarouge ou ultraviolette). [En] bande infrarouge [..] tout comme pour les autres types de lumière, le capteur mesure la lumière infrarouge de chaque pixel. Pour chaque pixel, un nombre donné correspond à la lumière infrarouge. Plus le nombre est élevé, plus la proportion de lumière infrarouge mesurée est importante. Ainsi, les nombres mesurés pour l'eau par le satellite seront radicalement différents des nombres se rapportant aux forêts. De même, les prairies réfléchissent des quantités de lumière infrarouge différentes de celles réfléchies par les forêts, même si leur couleur (le vert) est identique. Lorsque nous transposerons ces nombres en images via l'ordinateur, la couleur des prairies sera différente de celle des forêts. Parfois, la différence est telle que les valeurs IR mesurées sur des arbres feuillus malades diffèrent de celles mesurées sur les arbres sains.

All clouds, from the puffy cumulus to the wispy cirrus, is a portion of air that has condensed into visible moisture. Cooling of such a portion of air to its dew point is by far the main reason for cloud formation. The main cause for the cooling lies in some process which causes air to rise or be forced upward. Large warm air masses may slide up the slope of a colder heavier mass of air. As the warmer air overrides the cooler, the warm air expands and is cooled itself by the expansion of air molecules, thus finally reaching a dew-point temperature resulting in widespread cloudiness. All clouds consist of minute water droplets, ice crystals, or a combination of both.

Generating a vector, for example, requires many calculations to determine the value of a single pixel. These calculations can be performed while the display controller is scanning a visible portion of a scan line. The identification of pixels to be plotted can be saved on a stack. When the memory is available... the identified pixels can be "blasted" to the screen memory sequentially. Significant performance improvements can be made using this stack-blasting technique.
