"Michael Lauber was appointed the first Canadian Banking Ombudsman (CBO) when Canada's major chartered banks established the organization in May 1996. On October 2002 he took on an expanded Ombudsman mandate when the CBO merged with the dispute resolution services of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (IDA) the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) and the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC). An example will illustrate how the computer assists the operation. Joe Smith delivers a truck load of grain to the elevator, and is directed by the central control board operator (CBO) to receiving pit. Using an alphanumeric keyboard, the CBO types in Smith's account number, the code number of the receiving pit (origin) and the code number of the selected bin (destination) in which his grain will be stored. The computer then determines all possible alternate routes between the receiving pit and the bin and displays them in detail on the video screen. The operator selects the route he wants to use by typing in the proper instruction. All but the selected route codes disappear from the video screen. Nous allons nous servir d'un exemple pour illustrer comment l'ordinateur assiste le fonctionnement du silo. Joe Smith arrive au silo avec un camion de grain et le préposé au tableau de commande principal (PTC) le dirige vers une fosse de réception. A l'aide d'un clavier alphanumérique, le préposé introduit dans l'ordinateur le numéro de compte de M. Smith, le code de la fosse de réception (point de départ) et le code de la cellule (destination) où le grain de M. Smith sera stocké. L'ordinateur détermine alors tous les itinéraires possibles entre la fosse de réception et la cellule en question et les affiche sur l'écran de contrôle. Le préposé choisit l'itinéraire voulu en tapant l'instruction appropriée. Les codes correspondant à tous les autres itinéraires disparaissent de l'écran.
