La méthode la plus simple, utilisée par la plupart des imprimantes 3D personnelles [...], est celle du dépôt de filament fondu. Elle consiste à faire passer un filament de plastique – de l'ABS (acrylonitrile butadiène styrène) ou du PLA (acide polylactique) – dans une tête d'extrusion chauffante. La tête se déplace ensuite horizontalement et dessine l'objet désiré sur le lit d'impression.
