The Canadian Collection of Fungal Cultures (CCFC) currently holds 10,500 strains of fungal cultures representing about 2,500 species. The collection originated as an amalgamation of individual research collections and now serves as the primary repository for fungal cultures in the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Branch and accepts patent strains. It functions as a gene bank for this microbial resource and provides pure cultures to scientists in agriculture, forestry, medicine, private industry and biotechnology. La Collection de cultures fongiques canadiennes(CCFC) contient environ 10 500 souches de cultures fongiques représentant environ 2 500 espèces. La collection résulte de la consolidation graduelle de plusieurs collections de recherche individuelle. Elle est maintenant le dépôt principal de cultures fongiques de la Direction générale de la recherche d’Agriculture et Agro-alimentaire Canada et accepte en dépôt les lignées brevetées. Elle a aussi le mandat de banque de gènes pour les ressources génétiques microbiennes et fournit des cultures pures aux chercheurs en agriculture, foresterie, médecine, biotechnologie, tant du secteur privé que public. To cope with rapid modernization, rising urbanization, and international integration, it is estimated that developing East Asian countries will need to invest between $1.2 trillion and $1.5 trillion ... in transportation, power, telecommunications, and water and sanitation facilities in the next decade ...
