This centre was established in accordance with the Basel Convention, which sets out controls for the transboundary movement of hazardous wastes. The centre will offer training and technology transfer and co-ordinate the implementation of the Basel Convention in the Latin America and Caribbean region. Ce centre fut établi selon les termes de la Convention de Bâle qui détermine les paramètres de lutte contre le mouvement transfrontalier des déchets dangereux. Le centre offrira de la formation et du transfert de technologie et coordonnera la mise en place de la convention dans la région d’Amérique latine et des Caraïbes.
