The Community centre for gays and lesbians of Montreal is a non-profit organization which was established on August 17, 1988. The CCGLM acts to improve the well-being of people in [its] communities by promoting cooperation and seeking the support of the community and social development by individuals and organizations. UNU is an international community of scholars engaged in research, postgraduate training and the dissemination of knowledge aimed at resolving the pressing global problems of human survival, development and welfare. Un nouveau centre de recherche et de formation de l'Université des Nations Unies pour l'innovation, la technologie et le développement est né officiellement le 1er janvier 2006. Ce nouveau centre, dont le nom est UNU-MERIT(Centre de Recherche Economique et Sociale et de Formation de Maastricht pour l'Innovation et la Technologie) est le résultat d’un accord de coopération entre l'UNU et l'Université de Maastricht. L'inauguration de l UNU-MERIT fait suite à une période transitoire d’un an, durant laquelle les deux universités ont décidé de la manière d’intégrer leurs instituts de recherche respectifs l'Institut pour les Nouvelles Technologies de l'UNU(UNU-INTECH) et le MERIT. Le principal but de la fusion de ces deux instituts basés à Maastricht était de mettre en commun leurs ressources intellectuelles et de réaliser des synergies dans le contenu de leurs recherches et leur organisation.
