Research tells us that regular physical exercise helps to improve both our body and our mind. This September, The Arthritis Society's Joints in Motion Program will be making history as they team up with the Royal Canadian Legion to participate in the In Flanders Fields Marathon. The marathon, which also is known as the Marathon of Peace, will take runners and walkers through the Belgium battlefields of the First World War. The timing is particularly appropriate, given that November 11 will mark the 85th anniversary of the end of the Great War. Traditionally, Joints in Motion participants run in honour of an "arthritis hero." Australia and New Zealand commemorate the ANZAC Day public holiday on April 25 every year to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), and of all those who served their country. ANZAC Day is also a public holiday in Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tonga. The ANZAC tradition began in World War I with a landing on 25 April, 1915 near Gallipoli on the Turkish Aegean coast. Because of a navigational error, the ANZACs came ashore about a mile north of the intended landing point. Instead of facing the expected beach and gentle slope they found themselves at the bottom of steep cliffs, offering the few Turkish defenders an ideal defensive position. Establishing a foothold, the Anzacs found an advance to be impossible. First haulage was provided on the northern ... heading. This was an 18 H.P. steam driven winch, which had two cylinders, each 8 inches in diameter with a 12 inches stroke. L'utilité des ballons sur le champ de bataille enfin reconnue, le nombre des compagnies d’aérostiers s’accroît pour atteindre 75 en mars 1916. Chaque corps d’armée français dispose désormais de sa compagnie. La stabilité du sphérique est mauvaise. Pour pallier ce défaut on développe dès 1914 un ballon allongé de 800 m³ semblable au ballon allemand. Pour améliorer son orientation dans le vent on lui attache une queue de godets, comme à un cerf-volant.
