Responding to the United Nations Security Council resolution 1088 (13 December 1996), the North Atlantic Council has authorised the NATO-led operation for an 18-month period to support the further implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. SFOR's mission is to provide continued military presence to deter renewed hostilities and to stabilise and consolidate the peace in Bosnia-Hercegovina in order to contribute to a secure environment for the ongoing civil implementation plans. 4, fiche 1, Anglais, - Stabilization%20Force

En réponse à la résolution 1088 (13 décembre 1996) du Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies, le Conseil de l’Atlantique Nord a autorisé cette opération dirigée par l’OTAN pour une période de 18 mois dans le but d’appuyer la mise en application continue de l’Accord de paix de Dayton. Le mandat de la SFOR consiste à assurer une présence militaire permanente afin de décourager la reprise des hostilités, de stabiliser et consolider la paix en Bosnie-Herzégovine, et d’aider ainsi à instaurer des conditions de sécurité pour les plans civils de mise en œuvre. 4, fiche 1, Français, - Force%20de%20stabilisation
