Print density (one measure of printability) is the optical contrast between the printed and unprinted surface ... A higher ink application also has the effect of increasing set-off and rub-off. Set-off occurs when the still-moist ink smears off on the backing cylinder of the next printing unit, which then sets off the image onto the next page. Rub-off is when the ink rubs off on the reader's hands. L'application d’une quantité d’encre trop importante aura pour effet d’augmenter le maculage et l'effacement par frottement. Le maculage se produit lorsque l'encre encore humide tache le contre-rouleau de l'organe d’impression suivant, qui dépose à son tour l'image sur la prochaine feuille. L'effacement par frottement a lieu lorsqu'un dépôt d’encre est laissé sur les mains du lecteur. Ce phénomène est attribuable à une pénétration trop lente de l'encre dans le papier ou bien à un séchage insuffisant. Apparent precession. A free gyro that is not slaved to any earth reference (as the vertical and directional gyros and the gyrocompass are) will tend to maintain a fixed direction in inertial space, that is, with respect to fixed stars. Procédé d’impression basé sur la modulation d’un champ magnétique et utilisant un support d’impression non traité. L'impression se fait de la façon suivante : les têtes d’écriture composent point par point une image latente sur un tambour métallique tournant à la vitesse constante d’un tour par seconde. La boîte à encre met en contact avec le tambour des particules d’encre magnétique qui, attirées, révèlent l'image enregistrée, image qui est transférée ensuite sur le papier par un rouleau presseur. Après la technologie RET de Hewlett-Packard permettant d’améliorer le rendu de l'impression laser, c'est au tour du jet d’encre de franchir un cap technologique.
