Le modèle du conduit vocal y est obtenu par un jeu de paramètres (énergie et fréquence du son fondamental, coefficients de réflexion) extraits et quantifiés sur une période de 20 à 25 ms. Un son voisé nécessite dix coefficients et un son non voisé quatre coefficients seulement.
