Pour des applications de type création graphique, animation, incrustation d’images informatiques, cet écart est très gênant. Certains constructeurs permettent alors de choisir le format d’affichage vidéo de l'image. Un premier réglage(mode «underscan») permet de conserver l'image informatique dans sa taille initiale. Elle apparaît donc sur le moniteur vidéo exactement comme sur l'écran informatique avec les bordures noires habituelles.
