La radiométrie des systèmes à barrette est cependant plus complexe que celle des balayeurs mécaniques. En effet, chaque détecteur a sa propre fonction de transfert de modulation, et même si les détecteurs sont identiques, ils doivent être étalonnés individuellement. Cet étalonnage pouvant varier dans le temps d’un détecteur à l'autre, il y a lieu de l'ajuster périodiquement au niveau du logiciel en visant une surface de réflectance connue et constante. De plus, les pixels étant identiques en largeur le long d’une ligne transversale, ils ne sont pas observés avec le même angle de vue instantané. Cet angle est plus faible en bordure du champ balayé qu'au nadir, ce qui se traduit par la réception d’une énergie plus faible par le détecteur.
