De même, il est inexact de rendre «Golden Horseshoe Area» par «péninsule du Niagara» ou par «région du Niagara», les territoires couverts n’ étant pas les mêmes. Le «Golden Horseshoe» borde l'ouest du lac Ontario. De forme rectangulaire, la péninsule du Niagara s’étend depuis les rives sud-ouest du lac Ontario jusqu'aux rives nord-est du lac Érié et est bornée à l'est par la rivière Niagara, marquant à ce point la frontière entre le Canada et les États-Unis; elle est réputée pour ses vignobles et ses vergers.
