Elle consista en la convergence, à partir du 3 septembre 1939, d’un ensemble de conflits régionaux respectivement amorcés le 18 juillet 1936 en Espagne(la Guerre civile espagnole), le 7 juillet 1937 en Asie(la Guerre sino-japonaise), et le 1er septembre 1939 en Pologne(Campagne de Pologne), générant ainsi un conflit planétaire qui opposa schématiquement deux camps-les Alliés et l'Axe-et s’acheva le 2 septembre 1945. Engagé dans son ensemble, le Corps européen,(Eurocorps en anglais, Eurokorps en allemand) peut fournir 60. 000 hommes, 700 chars et 300 pièces d’artillerie. C'est le corps d’armée le plus puissant d’Europe occidentale depuis la guerre froide. Créé en 1992, déclaré opérationnel en 1995, il est une initiative franco-allemande à laquelle se sont successivement joint la Belgique, l'Espagne puis le Luxembourg. Outre les cinq pays membres(«nations-cadre»), sept pays de l'Union européenne(Royaume-Uni, Italie, Grèce, Pologne, Finlande, Pays-Bas et Autriche) détachent un nombre limité d’officiers de liaison à l'état-major, à Strasbourg. Eurocuerpo (en inglés Eurocorps, en francés Corps européen, en alemán Eurokorps), ejército de reacción rápida al servicio de la Unión Europea (UE) y la OTAN. Tiene su origen en la brigada germano-francesa creada en 1989 por Helmut Kohl y François Mitterrand. Este ejército de élite simboliza la reconciliación entre ambos países. El Eurocuerpo esta compuesto por cinco Estados miembros: Alemania, Bélgica, España, Francia y Luxemburgo. The War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714) was a major European conflict that arose in 1701 after the death of the last Spanish Habsburg king, Charles II. Charles had bequeathed all of his possessions to Philip, duc d'Anjou - a grandson of the French King Louis XIV - who thereby became Philip V of Spain. The war began slowly, as the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I fought to protect his own dynasty's claim to the Spanish inheritance. As Louis XIV began to expand his territories more aggressively, however, other European nations (chiefly England and the Dutch Republic) entered on the Holy Roman Empire's side to check French expansion (and, in the English case, to safeguard the Protestant succession). Other states joined the coalition opposing France and Spain in an attempt to acquire new territories, or to protect existing dominions. The War of the Grand Alliance, also known as the War of the League of Augsburg, the Nine Years War, the Orleans War, the War of the Palatinian Succession, and the War of the English Succession, was a major war fought in Europe and Colonial America from 1688 to 1697, between France and the League of Augsburg - which, by 1689, was known as the "Grand Alliance" when England and others joined. La guerre de la ligue d’Augsbourg, également appelée guerre de Neuf Ans, eut lieu de 1688 à 1697. Elle opposa la France sous la monarchie absolue de Louis XIV, alliée au Danemark et à l'empire Ottoman, à une grande coalition, d’abord défensive.
