Physicians for Global Survival (PGS): PGS, a charitable organization formed in 1980, is the Canadian affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which is the only international medical organization dedicated to preventing nuclear war. PGS recognizes that the catastrophic health and environmental consequences of a nuclear war are at the extreme end of a continuum of armed violence that undermines health and security. IPPNW and PGS are committed to studying the root causes of armed conflict from a public health perspective and to educating others. PGS promotes nonviolent means of conflict resolution and social justice in a sustainable world. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the founding fathers of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The House of Commons is the custodian of an important collection of art and artifacts reflecting Canada's social and political history. Many of these works are displayed throughout Parliament, including its committee rooms. This painting, Ghosts of Vimy Ridge, is currently on loan to the new Canadian War Museum, but its permanent home is the Centre Block's historic Railway Committee Room. La Chambre des communes est le gardien d’une importante collection d’œuvres d’art et d’artefacts témoignant de l'histoire politique et sociale du Canada. Bon nombre de ces œuvres sont exposées dans différents édifices du Parlement dont les salles de comité. Le domicile permanent de cette toile, Les revenants de la crête de Vimy, est la salle historique du Comité des Chemins de fer de l'édifice du Centre. La peinture est actuellement prêtée au nouveau Musée canadien de la guerre. The ILO (International Labour Organization) was founded in 1919, in the wake of a destructive war, to pursue a vision based on the premise that universal, lasting peace can be established only if it is based upon decent treatment of working people. The ILO became the first specialized agency of the UN in 1946. The Organization is devoted to advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security, and human dignity. The use of the current spelling, i.e., Organization, began in October 1992 at which time an internal circular was issued. It should be noted that "Organisation" remains the preferred spelling found in the titles of any instruments, e.g. conventions, recommendations, etc., adopted by the International Labour Conference before that date, including the Constitution which was established in 1919 and last amended in 1974. (The 1994 edition of the Constitution was incorrectly issued as "Constitution of the International Labour Organization".
