Le Bureau européen pour les langues moins répandues(BELMR/EBLUL) dispose d’une représentation en France et travaille à la promotion des langues parlées sur le territoire français. Il s’agit du breton, du catalan, du corse, des langues créoles, de l'allemand/alsacien, du basque, du luxembourgeois/moselan, du néerlandais/flamand, de l'occitan et des langues d’oïl. Il s’agit d’une très grande diversité linguistique, faisant partie d’un héritage culturel fort. On peut sans complexe affirmer que ces langues font parties du patrimoine culturel mondial et qu'à ce titre, elles ont le droit de survivre.
