On entend par emboutissage la mise en forme d’une feuille de métal généralement plane, appelée flan, en une pièce creuse de surface non développable, la déformation ayant lieu, tout au moins théoriquement, à surface, donc à épaisseur constante. Ce travail est exécuté à l'aide d’un outillage spécialement créé pour la pièce, et monté sur une presse. [...] Les pièces embouties en alliage d’aluminium sont nombreuses et de formes très variées.
