Where a tenant gives notice of his intention to quit the premises by him held at a time mentioned in the notice and does not accordingly deliver up the possession thereof at the time mentioned in the notice, the tenant shall from thenceforward pay to the landlord double the rent or sum that he should otherwise have paid, to be levied, sued for and recovered at the same times and in the same manner as the single rent or sum before the giving of such notice could be levied, sued for or recovered, and such double rent or sum shall continue to be paid while the tenant continues in possession. The mixed-income, mixed tenure philosophy that informed the growth of co-ops, became the basis for the evolution of all forms of "social" housing development in Canada. Non-Profit Housing, funded in essentially the same way as co-ops, grew in even greater numbers than co-ops during these years. Though having characteristics more often seen in normal "rental" housing with landlords who do not live in the building and rents paid at the end of each month rather than co-op "membership" charges collected by an internal co-op board of directors, these were, nonetheless, very creative, well designed mixed-income communities.  2, fiche 2, Anglais, - normal%20rental%20housing%20property
