A form of timber construction used in regions rich in timber, in which the walls are made of tree-trunks laid horizontally on top of one another and overlapping at the corners where they are slotted together. At its most rudimentary, round boles are put on top of one another, and the joints sealed with moss and mud. At a more sophisticated level, the logs are adzed down so that plane surface rests on plane surface, making the walls more solid and the joints better-fitting. 1, record 1, English, - log%2Dconstruction
