Le revenu provenant des avoirs miniers se rapporte également à la fusion et à l'affinage des ressources minérales jusqu'à un stade ne dépassant pas celui du métal primaire. Il se rapporte aussi à la transformation des sables bitumineux ou à celle des huiles lourdes ne dépassant pas le stade du pétrole brut et, après 1996, au traitement du gaz naturel.
