Canada has only two battlefield memorials, one on the Vimy Ridge (called the "Canadian Vimy Memorial"), and the other in Beaumont-Hamel (called the "Beaumont-Hamel Memorial"), both in France and administered by Veteran Affairs Canada. All other Canadian memorials are "war memorials," monuments erected in Canada for the Canadians to remember the contribution of their soldiers in the world wars. 1, record 1, English, - battlefield%20memorial

Le Canada n'a que deux monuments érigés sur un champ de bataille, l'un sur la crête de Vimy (appelé le «monument commémoratif du Canada à Vimy», l'autre, à Beaumont-Hamel (appelé le «monument commémoratif de Beaumont-Hamel», tous deux en France et tous deux administrés par Anciens Combattants Canada. Le terme anglais "battlefield memorial" se rend plus exactement par «monument érigé sur un champ de bataille», «monument identifiant un champ de bataille». Cependant, cette expression tient davantage de la définition que du terme comme tel. Dans l'usage, on dira plutôt «monument commémoratif de guerre», ou simplement «monument de guerre» et, si la guerre est nommée «monument commémoratif de la Guerre-de-Xxxxx», «monument commémorant la bataille de Zzzz». En français, on ne doit pas utiliser «monument commémoratif de champ de bataille», le mot-à-mot de l'expression anglaise (et ce, même si l'expression figure dans le Lexique d'Anciens Combattants Canada), puisqu'on ne commémore pas un champ de bataille, mais bien une bataille en particulier, ou toute une guerre. 1, record 1, French, - monument%20comm%C3%A9moratif%20de%20guerre
