A gas emitted by radioactive material in the Earth's crust and forming a minute constituent of the air near the ground. 6, record 1, English, - radon
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Radon [is a] highly radioactive inert gas occurring in nature as radon-222, a decay daughter in the radioactive disintegration of uranium 238. It is an alpha particle emitter, having a half-life of 3.8 days and is a considerable hazard to those engaged in uranium mining, as its decay daughters are, too, radioactive. 7, record 1, English, - radon

5, record 1, French, - radon
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 1, French, - radon

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
7, record 1, French, - radon

Natural radon consists of three isotopes, one from each of the three natural radioactive disintegration series (uranium, thorium, and actinium series). The longest lived isotope, radon-222 (3.823-day half-live) ... arises in the uranium series. 4, record 3, English, - radon%2D222
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The name radon is sometimes reserved for this isotope to distinguish it from the other two natural isotopes, called thoron and actinon because they originate in the thorium and actinium series, respectively. 4, record 3, English, - radon%2D222
