Simple vacuum-packaging machines, suited to less developed regions, are available. They consist of a chamber with a removable lid, so that the plastic pouch or bag containing the product can be placed inside the chamber, which is evacuated with an electrically driven vacuum pump. By closing the lid, air can be drawn out of the chamber and also out of the open bag. While still in the vacuum chamber, the bag is hermetically closed by heat sealing by means of a manual or automatic electrically heated sealing device. 1, record 2, English, - vacuum%20chamber

Seam Testing Methods... Vacuum chamber (boxes) have been used where a 3-ft- long box with a transparent top is placed over the seam and a vacuum of approximately 2.5 lb/in. superscript 2] applied. When a leak is encountered the soapy solution originally placed over the seam shows bubbles. These bubbles are due to air entering from beneath the liner and passing through the unbonded zone. The test is slow to perform and it is often difficult to make a vacuum-tight joint at the bottom of the box where it passes over the seam edges. 1, record 8, English, - vacuum%20box
