Dans [la conception orientée objets], on appelle «espace du problème» l'ensemble des informations redondantes, ambiguës et contradictoires qui sont utilisées pour décrire le problème, et «espace de solution», l'ensemble des objets, des opérations et de leurs attributs, présents dans l'espace du problème et pertinents pour lui trouver une solution. La démarche de conception prend sa source dans cette correspondance établie entre le monde réel et la solution logicielle à travers la réduction de l'énoncé du problème.
