Since its inception, the IASB [International Accounting Standards Board] has been able to set standards with relatively little political influence in its governance or standard setting process. But this changed with the outbreak of the global financial crisis. Political bodies began to view accounting standards as a contributing factor that amplified the consequences of the crisis on banks, financial markets and the overall economy. Regaining control over accounting standard setting was seen as imperative. 2, record 2, English, - accounting%20standard%20setting

1, record 17, French, - achats%20et%20ventes

The biomass industries concept. The Science Council of Canada's report No. 23 "Canada's Energy Opportunities" recognized the potential of renewable biomass energy as one of the significant renewable longterm energy resources. This factor plus the recognition that many industrial components in the Canadian economy rely for over half their feedstocks on biomass triggered the idea of a biomass industries program. This identified 14 of the 40 individual sectors in the Standard Industrial Classification as "biomass industries". 1, record 20, English, - biomass%20industry
