Le panache en éventail. Quand la température augmente avec l'altitude, l'air est stable et il n'y a pas de mouvement vertical (inversion). On peut observer un certain niveau de brassage horizontal, bien qu'il ne soit pas aussi important qu'avec un panache conique. Le panache s'étend donc à l'horizontale, mais très peu à la verticale. Puisque les vents sont en général légers, le panache serpente à l'horizontale. Les concentrations du panache sont élevées. Mais, dans ce cas, peu d'effluents émis par des sources élevées sont rabattus vers le sol, à moins que l'inversion ne soit brisée par des obstacles à la hauteur du panache ou par un réchauffement du sol.
