Corps de garnissage pour colonne de distillation. (...) Le premier garnissage utilisé était constitué de petits cylindres creux ayant un diamètre extérieur égal à leur hauteur: les anneaux Raschig réalisés en céramique ou en métal. On a créé par la suite d'autres formes telles que les "selles de Berl", (...) on fractionne la hauteur du garnissage en plusieurs tronçons de 1 à 2 m d'épaisseur supportés par des grilles, et on redistribue le liquide entre chaque tronçon par des pulvérisateurs ou des plateaux distributeurs.
