Essai biologique visant à déterminer dans quelle mesure le milieu doit être dépollué pour permettre la survie des organismes.

OBS

Le français exprime la notion différemment de l'anglais en considérant que, peu importe le but de l'opération (réduire les polluants pour permettre la vie des organismes ou ne pas dépasser un dose léthale), il s'agit du même test qui répondra à la question : quelle est la dose de polluant qu'un organisme donné ne peut supporter. Le trait sémantique «reduction», dans l'expression anglaise, peut donc être sous-entendu en français.
