L'obésité correspond chez l'individu adulte à une augmentation de la masse du tissu adipeux. L'étude de la différenciation adipocytaire s'est enrichie récemment de plusieurs facteurs transcriptionnels, spécifiquement impliqués dans l'activation des gènes du métabolisme lipidique au sein des adipocytes et de leur différenciation : les PPAR (peroxysome proliferator activated receptor) capables d'induire un phénotype adipocytaire de myoblastes, le facteur ADDI (adipocyte determination and differentiation-dependant factor).
