buffalo: The common name for any of five species of wild cattle native to Africa and Asia. The term is commonly, but erroneously, applied to the American bison.

In Canada, "buffalo jump" is commonly used but "bison jump" would be more appropriate.

Le saut de bison consistait en un couloir délimité par deux murs de pierre et de broussailles en forme de V, menant au bord d'une falaise. On acheminait les animaux dans ce couloir, puis on semait la panique dans le troupeau pour inciter les bêtes à se précipiter du haut de la falaise.
