Air traffic is expected to show steady growth in the near future. To cope, we will have to start the construction of a new generation of equipment within the next few years. ONERA is paving the way for this changeover in two ways. First, it is developing new concepts, and even demonstrators, for transfer to manufacturers. The main development in this field is the miniature quartz accelerometer for aircraft and missiles.

Accéléromètre à quartz. Une accélération suivant l'axe sensible, va comprimer un des cristaux et dilater l'autre, ce qui modifie leurs propriétés électriques et mécaniques (fréquence, résistivité, etc.), ces modifications sont exploitées pour mesurer la force spécifique de manière différentielle.
