Les diverses espèces de plantes ne peuvent vivre chacune que dans un sol dont le pH est compris entre deux valeurs assez voisines. Suivant la zone de pH qu'elles acceptent, les plantes peuvent se ranger en acidiphiles fortes [4 à 5], moyennes [5 à 6], faibles [6 à 6,5]; en neutrophiles [de 6,5 à 7,5] et en basiphiles [au dessus de 7,5]. 4, record 1, French, - acidiphile

Le dictionnaire de la chimie de Duval, 1978, p. 19, donne au mot «acidophile» le même sens qu'au mot «acidiphile». C'est regrettable car «acidophile», toujours selon Duval, possède un second sens qui en fait un synonyme de «éosinophile». Nous recommandons donc plutôt l'emploi de «acidiphile» au sens de «qui peut vivre en milieu acide» afin d'éviter toute confusion. 5, record 1, French, - acidiphile
