En février 2003, une nouvelle prestation financière destinée aux clients à court terme a été introduite. La Transitional Employment Allowance est disponible aux clients qui connaissent la date à laquelle ils deviendront autonomes (par exemple, la date de leur première paye ou de la première prestation d'assurance-emploi) et qui participent au programme Jobs First (emploi en premier). L'allocation est une prestation forfaitaire payable pour un maximum de quatre mois. Le Department of Community Resources and Employment administre l'allocation par l'intermédiaire de son centre de relations avec la clientèle.
