In a traveler system, a giant sprinkler is mounted on a trailer and moved continuously by a winch. The winch is powered by a water turbine, using the flow of water to the sprinkler, or by a small gasoline or bottled gas engine. Most common traveling sprinklers are fed by a flexible hose from a main line.

Asperseurs mobiles. Ce système [d'irrigation] consiste en un asperseur géant installé sur une remorque et que déplace continuellement un treuil. Ce treuil est actionné par une turbine hydraulique utilisant le débit de l'eau qui se rend à l'asperseur ou bien par un petit moteur à essence ou à gaz combustible. Les asperseurs mobiles les plus communs sont alimentés par un tuyau flexible à partir de la conduite principale.
