An amount created by the application of current cost accounting techniques that represents the difference between the depreciation charge for a period computed on the current cost of a fixed asset and the total adjustment to accumulated depreciation necessary to reflect the expired service life of the asset. Over the life of the asset, backlog depreciation is the difference between the total depreciation charges (excluding backlog depreciation) and the current cost at the end of the asset's life.

Dans la comptabilité au coût actuel, pour un exercice donné, montant égal à la différence entre, d'une part, l'amortissement imputé à l'exercice et calculé en fonction du coût actuel du bien en cause et, d'autre part, le redressement qui doit être apporté au solde du compte Amortissement cumulé en vue de refléter la capacité de service absorbée jusqu'à la fin de l'exercice en cours.

OBS

Pour la durée de vie utile totale d'un bien, le rattrapage d'amortissement est égal à la différence entre le total des annuités d'amortissement, à l'exclusion du rattrapage, et le coût de remplacement de ce bien (à l'état neuf) à la fin de sa vie utile.
