Capsular contraction is measured by a grading system referred to as the Baker grading system. The Baker grading system has four grades [from I to IV].

Contraction capsulaire. Le degré de contraction est classé de I à IV selon l'échelle de Baker : I - le sein est normal, souple, d'aspect naturel; II - le sein est un peu ferme, mais d'aspect normal; III - le sein est ferme, d'aspect anormal avec une déformation et IV - le sein est dur, douloureux, d'aspect anormal, associé à une distorsion importante. En stade III et IV, il faut souvent réopérer.
